E.T. by Katy Perry 1 (Let's learn some pick-up lines :P)

E.T. Lyrics

You're so
hypnotizing
could u be the devil, could you be an angel
your touch magnetizing
feels like going floating, leave my body glowing
They say be afraid
you're not like the others, futuristic lovers
different DNA, they dont understand u

You're from a whole other world
a different
dimension
you open my eyes
and im ready to go, lead me into the light
Kiss me, k-k-kiss me

가사(lyrics)

Listen to my word
Girl please let him know 소녀, 부디 그에게 알려줘

Girl, listen carefully to what I say
너무 기다려왔던 이 순간을 위해 for this moment that you've waited so long for
I know why 너의 sexy한 모습 I know why, your sexy image
I will show you all

oh No 말할 땐 좀 더 크게 오 안돼, talk a little louder when you speak
Yes Right 때로는 소녀 같게 그래 맞아, sometimes like a girl
하나하나 조심스럽게 행동하기 be careful in everything you do

Why are you like that. you full of mistakes
넘 어색한 행동과 말들 awkward actions and words
I can't see any charm
Listen, please show yourself
사랑스러운 너의 애교와 눈웃음 가득 your lovable cuteness and smile
우리 연습한 그대로 푹 빠져 들어가게 just like we practiced. He will fall for you.
by your side

Girl, Show him. even your fashion
좀 사랑스럽게 좀 어색하지 않게 be lovable, and not awkward
make up 하얀 너의 피부에 맞게 make up to match with your white skin
넘 진해도 안 돼 살짝 은은하게  not too heavy, lightly.

Oh no, not too much perfume
Yes Right, sometimes like a lady
바라보는 시선 모두 다 훔쳐가게 so you can steal all the gazes

by your side

If he fell for you, send him a slight look
너의 부드런 손끝을 그에게 살짝 닿게 해 let your soft hands lightly touch him

That's it.
Your perfect actions and words that can melt him
사랑스런 너의 매력 빠져 버릴 거야 느껴 봐 he will fall for your lovable charm
Girl please let him know  Girl,
너의 모든 걸 조금씩 천천히 보여 줘 show everything little by little
우리 연습한 그대로 푹 빠져들어 가게 just like we practiced. He will fall for you
by your side

Useful Korean expressions - 미용실 편(1) In beauty salon

A senior life is sooo tough! Somebody plz rescue me~살려줘요!!

I just took a shower and am drying my hair now :D and~ it gave me an idea of 미용실편!! ^ ^

If you get into the salon, the hairdresser will ask you 'how would you like your hair?'

Now, here are some expressions you might want to use!

Cut it short, please.

Muah*
Then she will ask you how short? 얼마나요? then you can say..
Around my shoulder.
Around my chin, please.

Just trim it, please. Will you cut off only the damaged part?

I am here to perm my hair.
Nooooo

There are so many kinds of perms, right? ;P
so, we usually say

There are some computers available in almost every salon, so they will just look up the celebrity's picture you said and make sure if that's what you asked for. :D
You should say this imposingly! *ㅠ* Don't be shy to say this xP

**HOWEVER, don't be disappointed even if you don't look like them after when you look at yourself in the mirror.hehehe 실망하지 마세요~** That's what always happen ㅋㅋㅋ

I'd like to dye my hair.

When you already dyed your hair, but new hair grew up and it looks bad, you might want to keep the color,
then you can say~

뿌리 means 'root' and 부분 means 'part'. :D
Even if you dye only the root part, the cost will be the same as dying the whole hair ~

Audio file

Useful Korean expressions - Ed Ashley

Okay~ I am telling you this might be not useful even though the title is 'Useful Korean expressions'. haha
I am warning you~ :P

This post is specially for Ed who lives in Singapore(ha! personal information!) and bullies me every time we talk!! but I know she is a big fan of me. MUHAHAHA lol ( Unni, I can guess what kinda face you are making now :P)

I am going to tell you what she says to bully me in Korean. ehem! READY?

okay, 고고씽!

You have gone crazy!
Neo Mi Chyo Buh Reot Gu Na!

If I ask her to pick one word that can describe me, she will definitely say 'CRAZY'. lol
I swear~ I'm not crazy~ 저 안미쳤어요~ I am normal! Arn't I..?

You are talking alien again....
Nuh Dae Chae Mu Seun Mal Ha Nuen Guh Ni. Mu Seun So Ri Ha Neun Guh Ya?

I guess she is from Mars... That's why she sometimes can't understand what I say. It's really hard to deal with someone who is not an earthian... :S hehehehe

You silly! You dumbo.
Mung Chung Ah!!!

*sigh* I am not dumb........ :'( *sniff sniff*

Why do you bully me~
WHY ME!!!!!!!
Dae Che Wae Nal Gue Rop Hee Nuen Guh Ya~

You make me crazy.  lol
Nuh Ddae Mun Eh Mi Chi Gaet Da.

You go to sleep already or your pandas will eat you up. (pandas = our pets under our eyes lol we both have good ones~ uh huh~ ;P)
Ga Seo Ja! Darkcircle Ee Tuk Gga Ji Nae Ryo Oh Gaet Uh.

턱 is a jaw, so if I literally translate it into English, it will be... Your dark circles will go down to your jaw? lol pshh

Hehehehe~ You know I like you so muchhhhh <3
Sorry

Useful Korean expressions - 식당에서 in a restaurant!

Today~ I am going to tell you how to order or ask things in Korean in a restaurant :D

The topic is pretty easy and basic, but I am going to cover some other stuffs too, so hope it helps  :)

Shall we start?

Where is the menu? Can I get a menu ?
MenuPan Uh Di It Uh Yo? MenuPan Jom Ju Sae Yo.

Usually, when you enter a restuarant, they will ask you 'for how many people 몇 분이세요?' and then give you a table.
You answer using an ordinal number like 한 명이요.

Speaking of the numbers, let me point them out in case you don't know.

we use 서수 for people, time (only for hours not minutes and seconds) and counting the number of things.
Three kids are playing in a playground.
It's 3:30:55 now. lol
5 notebooks, please.

Please make it not too spicy.
Neo Mu Map Ji Ann Gae Hae Ju Sae Yo.

Korean foods are generally quite spicy, I think you might need to know how to say this :)

Can I get some water? Where can I get some water?
Mul Jom Ju Sae Yo. Mul Eun Uh Di It Uh Yo?

I think, you will sometimes to see a note saying '물은 셀프' lol which means they won't serve water for you.
You should go to the water purifier and get some for yourself :D
(In a fancy restaurant, of course they will serve you the water lol )

and side dishes are 반찬 in Korean. They will give you more 반찬 for free(olleh~), if you ask for it. How nice~!

How much is it? Can I get the receipt?
Ul Ma Eh Yo? Young Su Jeung Ul Ju Sae Yo.

5. 이모 ~ 여기요~ hey, excuse me!
Ee Mo~ Yeo Gi Yo!

haha I think this will be very useful. 이모 is an aunt in English, but we call them 이모 not 아줌마 as a manner and respect and it sounds more friendly. :D Well~ who knows, she will give you some more extra side dishes for calling her like that saying 아이구~ 한국말 잘하네ㅋㅋㅋ(you are good at Korean).  hehe

You can say 저기요 instead of 여기요. Both are fine and it's like 'Excuse me' in English, so you can use it in many different situations :D

Penpal

Do you prefer an email or a snail mail? :)
I personally like getting an actual letter more! It takes longer but it's always worth the wait! yay!
I keep in touch with my penpals by sending emails or actual letters to them :D  Isn't it exciting to check out your mail box everyday waiting for letters from abroad? :P

Letters from my friends are like vitamins to me :D If you like writing (email is also fine!) , reading or sharing your thoughts with people (maybe with Korean for you ;P), I recommend you to make some penpals!
I am sure you will learn a lot from doing it since we talk about anything! Cultures, school system, jobs, music, and even languages :)

Today, I will tell you basic sentences you might want to write or ask on your mail :D ( Some are actually from the mistakes my pals made hehe)

If it's okay for you, may I get your address?

Similar expressions you can also say are
(informal)

I will start if off first.

If you decided to do a snail mail, you can use this expression :)

How long did it take to get the letter?

This one also. It depends on where you live and where your penpals live, but from my expriences, it takes about 10 days to get a letter from abroad. If you live in Seoul, it takes shorter like a week? Still too long? hehe

I'm so happy to (finally) get your letter!

One grammar point here is ~해서 ~ 하다. 원인과 결과 (reason and the result)

I feel happy because I'm full. hahah Is this only me?
I feel headache since I studied too much.
My stomach hurts since I drank too much last night.

Please write me back! I will look foward to hearing from you!

[Lyrics Translation MV] IU - The Story Only I Didn't Know ( 나만 몰랐던 이야기 )

Do you still dream often?
Is there anything uncomfortable?
*혹시 : by any chance*

My body's been feeling a little strange these days
It's like it's not mine..
Doctor, isn't the weather strange today?

What do you mean, the weather is strange?

Well, it seems like someone will visit me in this weather..

You really did forget everything
~ 더라 : 화자가 과거에 직접 경험하여 새로이 알게 된 사실을 그대로 옮겨 와 전달한다는 뜻을 나타내는 종결어미 (출처 : naver 국어사전) It's an ending that indicates a new fact that one found by one's own experience.
Seeing how happily you're greeting me
Only then did I vaguely begin to feel the pain
The wound that had yet to appear on my skin
차오르다 : to rise, to fill
ex) 고마움으로 가슴이 차오르다 : My heart is filled with gratitude.
My eyes are brimming with tears.

The tears would not come
Since this farewell didn't seem significant
Since it felt so inconsequential

A pleasant goodbye ultimately there can be no such thing
If I had known, I would have cried it all out then
When  both  two contrasting things are not proper, 차라리 indicates that one is relatively better han the other.
I'd rather die than surrender.

At that time, that I was already a part of your ending
Was a story only I didn't know

So it wasn't love
It was just a moment which you spent by my side
-to stay, to lay over
I stayed at my friend's house till the construction was finished.
Despite of all his efforts, he ended up being a runner-up

Now I'm vaguely beginning to understand
Why you could only apologize

I must have been too excited
The very moment you left me, I was expecting you again
How foolish was I?

A pleasant goodbye ultimately there can be no such thing
If I had known, I would have cried it all out then
At that time, that I was already a part of your ending
Was a story only I didn't know

Screaming JiwonNy*

Thesedays, I'm so into this song. Grenade by Bruno Mars
*~ 에 푹 빠지다 : be crazy about, be stuck on

If there's a guy like him, I will go ask him out lol

Easy come easy go that’s just how you live
Oh take take take it all but you never give
Should’ve known you was trouble from the first kiss
Had your eyes wide open
Why were they open?
The latter sounds more like it is in progress
Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked
cause what you don’t understand is
I’d catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on the blade for ya
I’d jump in front of a train for ya
You know I’d do anything for ya
See I would go through all this pain
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes I would die for ya baby, but you won’t do the same..

Black, black, black and blue beat me till I’m am numb
Tell the devil I said hey when you get back to where you’re from
Mad woman, bad woman that’s just what you are yeah
You’ll smile in my face then rip the breaks out my car

*Gave you all I had and you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash yes you did
To give me all your love
Is all I ever asked but what you don’t understand
Is I’d catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on the blade for ya
I’d jump in front of a train for ya
You know I’d do anything for ya
Listen babe I would go through all this pain, yeah
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes I would die for ya baby, but you won’t do the same..

If my body was on fire
Oh you would watch me burn down in flames
You said you loved me you’re a liar
Cause you never ever ever did baby..
*~ 한 적이 없다= have never done ~ before
*Cause I’d catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on the blade for ya
I’d jump in front of a train for ya
You know I’d do anything for ya
Oh babe I would go through all this pain yeah
Take a bullet straight through my brain
Yes I would die for ya baby, but you won’t do the same.. *

No, you won’t do the same,
You wouldn’t do the same,
Ooh, you’ll never do the same,
No, no, no, no

I feel like I've found  a treasure!
I keep listening to this song all day hehe
I tried my best to translate not too freely for you, but naturally. :D

Useful Korean expression -

Hi, everyone~ :)
This post is inspired by

I will tell you several common sentences that are often used when making friends online :D

- Do you use any messenger, Skype or MSN ?
Mae Sin Juh Ee Yong Ha Sae Yo? Skype Na MSN?

* A 나 B is either A or B. ~ 나 is the same as ~ 아니면.
See examples below!
ex)
I am busy right now, I will text or call you later.
What do u wanna eat? An apple or a banana?

- I added you as a friend.
Chin Gu Ro Chu Ga Haet Uh Yo.

추가하다 is to add something.
Do you like to make an additional order?
There is extra charge on side dishes.

- I left a comment on your blog.
Blog Eh Comment Ruel Nam Gyeot Uh Yo.

Accept my request, please.
Su Rak Hae Ju Sae Yo.

There is a smiliar word to 수락. It's 허락 (Huh Rak) which means 'consent, assent, approval, permission'.
We can hear this often on many Korean dramas lol
When people ask for permission from their parents to get married. :P
(Give me your daughter!!) hehe

- I have to go now. I've got a plan, so I should get ready for it.
Juh Ji Guem Na Ga Buah Ya Hae  Yo. Yak Sok Ee It Uh Suh Jun Bee Hae Ya Hae Yo.

준비하다 is to get ready.

Here is a funny expression that I used to say often when I was young.
Jun Bee Ddang~
Kids say this when they run a race or.. start something!

** Here is something foreign learners get confused of.
나가보다 = 나가다 (go out) + 보다(see)
You might have heard this 보다 verb is often mixed with another verb together.
ex)
해보다 do and see / try and see -> 한번 해보자! Let's give it a try.
먹어보다 eat and see -> 매울 것 같은데...
써보다 write and see -> 이곳에 니 이름을 한번 써봐. Try to write your name here.

just ~ 하자 is different from ~해보자 in confidence as well as its nuance.
~ 하자 is translated as 'Let's do it!!' with full of confidence, but ~ 해보자 is more like let's TRY it, Why not..? this nuance. Clear? :D

*** Today's words***

To use ( Ee Yong Ha Da)

Useful Korean expression - Making a plan!

Hi 안녕하세요, everyone :)
It's been a loooooooonnnnnnnngggggggggg time! Missed you*
I've been doing internship(인턴쉽), so was quite busy to post a new blog.
Guess what?! There are only 4days to go >< Olleh!!!!!
Today, no work to do.. 할 일이 없어요.... almost bored to death!!!!!

hm... then.....

Where do you want to meet up?
Uh Dee (Eh) Seo Bol Kka?

We should decide where to meet first, right?!
에 (Eh) can be omitted, and there is no difference :D

What time do you want to meet up?
Meot See Eh Man Nal Kka?

Let's meet up at Seoul station exit 3, at 3 tomorrow.
Usually, we say 'the time' first, and then 'the place' next.

Do you have a plan for Friday night?
Geom Yo Ill Jeo Neok Eh Yak Seok It Uh?

Do you have a plan on this weekend? Want to see a movie?
I'm sorry, but I don't think I can.  I should attend my friend's wedding.

If you have time, please give me a call.
Hok Si Si Gan E Deo Myeon, Yeon Lak Juh.

We use a verb 'give' for 전화, 문자 and 연락 or just use nouns as verbs like 'call me, or text me'.
so, you can either say, 전화해~ or 전화줘~ :D

혹시 means 'IF' and you can also use it when you are not sure of something.
Have we met by any chance?
Give him a call just in case.

I am really sorry, but I will have to cancel our plan today.
Jeong Mal Mee An Han Dae, Oh Neul Yak Sok Chui So Hae Ya Hal Gut Gat Ah.

If you don't want to use that strong word 'CANCLE 취소' (haha) you may want to use this word 'Delay 미루다'.

+ tip!  To not to make your friend upset from delaying, say this.
I am sooooo sorry! I will buy you a meal. :D hahaha
